How to Care for Your Smocked and Elasticised Pieces
Share
Smocked fabric needs love. A simple 3-step routine to keep your Jenn and Casey tops looking brand new, wash after wash.
Step 1: Gentle Wash
Always wash smocked and elasticised pieces in cold water on a delicate cycle. Hot water can break down the elastic threads and cause the smocking to lose its shape permanently.
Step 2: Reshape While Damp
After washing, gently reshape the garment by hand while it's still damp. Lay flat to dry rather than hanging — hanging can stretch out the elastic over time.
Step 3: Steam, Don't Iron
Use a handheld steamer to remove any wrinkles. Avoid direct contact with a hot iron on smocked sections as the heat can damage the delicate gathering threads.
